Getting Ready for the 2020 NFL Season

With all that’s going on in the world the one bright light at the end of this long dark tunnel we seem to be living in is the beginning of the 2020 NFL season. With online betting is starting to resume with leagues looking at restarting with anticipation starting as NFL will most likely be allowing some capacity of fans in their games everyone will be looking forward to it even more now. The 2020 season also marks the first season where Tom Brady will no longer be playing in a Patriots uniform but instead heading down to the sunshine state with his best friend Gronk to go have some fun and win a Superbowl along the way. We also have a highly touted draft class that is looking to make an impact on the league as soon as possible with players like Joe Burrow, Chase Young, Ceedee Lamb and Tua Tagovailoa to name a few. With the absence of sports for about 3 months now fans and bettors across the country will be looking to make up for lost time and play week 1 NFL games very heavily. With all that being said, let’s take a look at some of the week 1 lines for this upcoming NFL season.

The first game of the 2020 season is a rematch of the AFC Divisional matchup between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium. Two top quarterbacks in Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes will go toe to toe in this matchup. With Mahomes and the Chiefs coming off a Superbowl win I don’t believe they’ll have any type of hangover for this game and will easily cover the -10 point spread.

Another marquee game in week 1 will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the New Orleans Saints, right now the line for this game is -4 in favor of the Saints. All things point to this game being a great one as the Saints are a much similar team to the Bucs with a great veteran QB and a few young studs out wide. This will be Tom Brady’s first game as a Buccaneer along with Rob Gronkowski and I think they come in full steam ahead vs the Saints and win this game by around 7.

To piggyback off the topic of Tom Brady here we have his former team, the Patriots squaring up against the Miami Dolphins with the Patriots as -7.5 point favorites. This is a big game for 2 reasons it will be the Patriots first game without Tom Brady on their roster since 2000 and it could possibly be Tua Tagovailoa first NFL start. Tua is coming off an injury so chances are he will not be playing in this game but there is always a chance he could so i’m going to say the Patriots win this game by about 10 to cover and start their first season with out Brady in 15+ years 1-0.

And the last game we’re going to talk about for week 1 is a battle of the rookies in the Bengals vs the Chargers. Number one overall draft pick, Joe Burrow, faces off against number six overall draft pick, Justin Herbert in Cincinnati. Both teams around these guys may not be all that great but I expect big things from both of these guys in their future and what better way to start your career vs another top quarterback in your class. The Chargers are currently -2.5 point favorites in this game, I think Burrow can come out of the gate with a great game while Herbery may need some time to adjust so i’m taking the Bengals with the points in this game and maybe even a little moneyline.
