Picks Talk 2/15

Welcome to our first Saturday edition of Picks Talk. This is a make or break day for me and probably everyone else. There are tons of games today which means more chances to make some money after a tough Friday night. Picks Talk now stands at 3-5 in total. Once again we started the night off with a huge win. Buffalo beats Toledo outright by a score of 83-67 to cover +2.5 with ease. And then we had a big fat loser who never had a chance in Manhattan. All the numbers lined up in our favor for both these games but unfortunately only one out of the two fell our way. Manhattan loses to Iona by the score of 80-57 to not even come close to covering +3. Peluso’s parlay may have saved some of our days with a no sweat win from both the Penguins and the Hurricanes to cash out at some plus money (+115). The Blue Jackets of Columbus were our final hope to go positive on the night but the puck just didn’t go our way last night. The Blue Jackets suffered a 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Well like I mentioned before we have a huge day ahead of us to try and make some money back. Wall to wall college basketball in February could have two very extreme endings and we’re hoping ours ends in a positive way. With all that being said let’s get into the picks.

Kalb’s Picks (2-2):

Merrimack -9

Wagner at Merrimack, 4:00 pm

Here we find ourselves betting against Wagner again, a team who is 5-17 against the spread which is the second worst record in all of college basketball. Last time we bet against Wagner it was a huge win so I expect the same thing again. More stats to back this pick up are that Wagner is 4-12 ATS after a loss, 2-11 away and 5-14 as underdogs. Merrimack’s stats against the spread are also in our favor, Merrimack is 16-9 in total ATS, 6-2 at home and 4-2 as a home favorite. Let’s make some money and roll with Merrimack today.

UNC/UVA Under 117

Virginia at North Carolina, 8:00 pm

Usually I like to stick to just the spreads but no other games caught my eye so i’m going with a total pick. Both these teams were very good last year and have been very good in the past but have underperformed all year long. In Virginia’s last game vs Notre Dame the game stayed under the total of 105 even after going into OT. Virginia plays amazing defense game in and game out and UNC has not really been the powerhouse they usually have been this year so all things look to this game going under. UNC’s record of their games going under this year is 15-8-1 and Virginia’s record is 13-10 so I hope the numbers can fall on our side today to push us to a 4-2 record.

Joe’s Picks

Alright I need two winners here. I went 0-2 Thursday so I need to get hot. But fear not, I won my last 3 bets (sorry I didn’t post them on here, they were very quick, very irrational) but winners are winners.

Saturday college basketball is the best day to bet in February through March. So let’s go with one College Hoops pick and one hockey parlay.

West Virginia +5.5

West Virginia is coming off a bad loss to Kansas where WVU dominated for 33 minutes. Kansas took over the last 7 minutes and WVU only scored one field goal in that time. West Virginia is going on the road to #1 Baylor and if people want to take this West Virginia team seriously, they need a big time road win. West Virginia desperately needs to gain more respect from the committee if they want a top 4 seed and here’s a chance to prove it. Baylor is due for a loss. I’m not saying they’re gonna lose but this game is gonna be a one basket game.

Parlay: Bruins/Lightning ML

I won yesterday on a hockey parlay that pulled me almost out of the red. I’m right there. So I’m going back to the bread and butter. I’m taking another hockey parlay. Again, I’m no hockey guru, but I love the Bruins and Lightning today, they are gonna pull me into the Green.

Peluso’s picks:

Minnesota Wild Puck Line (-1.5)
