Welcome back to our second edition of Picks Talk and we’re coming off a below average day going 1-3 in total (1-1 for myself) (0-2 for Joe).
We started the night of very hot with a Farleigh Dickinson winning by 33 points to cover the 6 point spread with ease. We then went on to end the night with 3 straight losers. Arkansas Little Rock was tossed around all game and kept coming close but could never consistently stay within 3-5 points as eventually lost by 8. 38 points from Luka Garza of Iowa was not enough to put them over the 3 point crazy Hoosiers last night leading to a 12 point loss in a game they were never really in. And we finally end off the night with the Maple Leafs losing a good game to the Dallas Stars by the score of 3-2. Tonight isn’t exactly the greatest slate of games by any means but it is a Friday so you know what that means, Ivy league basketball. We’ll make the most of all the games tonight and hope to get back in the winning column tonight, so with that being said here are our picks for the night.
Kalb’s Picks (1-1):
Manhattan at Iona, 7:00 pm
Here we have another game where I’m not betting on Manhattan nearly as much as I’m betting against Iona. Betting against Wagner last night was our only winner so I hope the trend can continue. Here we have an Iona team that is absolutely atrocious against the spread this year while Manhattan has been pretty average. Iona is coming into this game with a 5-13-1 record in total ATS, 1-5-1 ATS at home and as a home favorite. every home game they have been favored and covered once so if all is right in this world Manhattan is a lock tonight.
Buffalo at Toledo, 6:30 pm
My second pick of the night is a little bit of Maction, who doesn’t love some Maction on a Valentine’s day night? Just like Iona, Toledo has one of the worst records ATS this year. Buffalo is a pretty average team like Manhattan so i’m hoping both games can fall our way because according to the numbers it should. This year Toledo is 6-17-1 ATS in all games which is the worst in the MAC, but wait it gets even better. They are 1-10 ATS at home and as a home favorite and 3-14 as a favorite in general. Buffalo may very well just win this game outright.
On a Valentine’s day Friday I can’t stress how in LOVE I am with these picks and how eager I am to improve to 3-1.
Parlay: Pittsburgh ML/Carolina ML +115
These are two teams that I fully expect to win, but can’t justify laying the juice on straight bets. With Pittsburgh sitting at a -187 money line home favorite going up against a mediocre Montreal team that just got dominated by Boston, I fully expect Pittsburgh to get the win at home. Carolina is a team that is in the middle of the wild card race and needs to take advantage of a home game against a Devils team that has underperformed all year and has little to play for.
Columbus ML -147
Coming off a tough overtime loss against Buffalo, Columbus will come out strong against a Ragners team that generally plays well at home. Columbus should be feeling the pressure of the wild card race and can’t afford to lose any points here. Look for Columbus to win the hockey game.
