Reaction To This Week’s CFP Rankings (11/12)

So tonight the second edition of this years CFP rankings were released. The committee selects the top 25 teams but really all that matters at this point are the top 10 teams as of now. This is what the top 10 of this weeks CFP rankings looks like:

  1. LSU (9-0)
  2. Ohio State (9-0)
  3. Clemson (9-0)
  4. Georgia (8-1)
  5. Alabama (8-1)
  6. Oregon (8-1)
  7. Utah (8-1)
  8. Minnesota (9-0)
  9. Penn State (8-1)
  10. Oklahoma (8-1)

This year has been a very unique season as we have pretty much 9-10 teams out of the top 10 that still have a realistic shot at the playoffs give or take a little but of help from other teams. So with these rankings it gives us an outlook as to how the committee looks at each team. There is no way to really predict how this season will come to an end but what I believe is most likely happen at this point is that LSU, Ohio State and Clemson finish undefeated which then leaves the 4 spot up to Alabama and whoever wins the PAC-12 whether it be Utah or Oregon. This is college football so this probably will not end up like this since many of the top 10 teams still have to play each other which then may leave each team with at least one loss. LSU and Georgia will most likely play in the SEC Championship but Georgia still has to play a very good team in Auburn. Ohio State will play Penn State in a few weeks and the winner of that will most likely play Minnesota. And finally Utah and Oregon will most likely play each other in the PAC-12 Championship. With just the right amount of chaos the playoff conversation could possibly be the most interesting of them all. There is really too much to predict and breakdown at this point in the season but in a few weeks it will be a tad more understandable.
