Make sure to read My Updated CFB Top 10 Week 10 before reading this. Week 11 was a week that was circled on all football fan’s calendars for many reasons. This week lived up to all the hype around it with huge upsets and huge wins causing a lot of shake up in this weeks top 10. Let’s see how my top 10 looks after week 11.
#1 LSU Tigers (9-0)
Last week: 46-41 W at #3 Alabama
Next week: at Ole Miss
With this win over Bama the Tigers have pretty much locked up a playoff spot. Coach O and the Tigers are also now headed to the SEC Championship in a few weeks and a lot would need to go wrong to derail the Tigers from the playoffs.
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0)
Last week: 73-14 W vs Maryland
Next week: at Rutgers
The Buckeyes put an absolute beating on Maryland this week. No matter how many points they won by they weren’t getting that #1 spot this week. With still a few tough games on their schedule it is not safe to say the Buckeyes have a playoff spot as of now but all things point to it.
#3 Georgia Bulldogs (8-1)
Last week: 27-0 W vs Missouri
Next week: at #12 Auburn
With losses from Penn State and Alabama it gives the Bulldogs the chance to slide into this #3 spot. The CFP committee will probably put Clemson in this spot but I believe Georgia is the better team despite their 1 loss. A win next week vs Auburn could really give the Dawgs a shot at the playoffs.
#4 Clemson Tigers (9-0)
Last week: 55-10 W at NC State
Next week: vs #22 Wake Forest
Finally Clemson will play a ranked team next week. Wake Forest is the only other ranked team in their terrible conference. Even though Clemson hasn’t played anyone this year if they can win out they’ll still make the playoffs.
#5 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-1)
Last week: 46-41 L vs #2 LSU
Next week: vs Mississippi State
The Tide take their first loss of the year in front of a huge home crowd in what was finally the game of the century. Alabama’s playoff hopes did not die with this loss but it certainly is going to be a rough path to sneak in.
#6 Oregon Ducks (8-1)
Last week: Bye
Next week: vs Arizona
Everything the Ducks need to happen is happening so far this season. If the Ducks can keep winning and win the PAC-12 with 1 loss it will give them a very good shot at finally making a return to the playoffs.
#7 Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-0)
Last week: 31-26 W vs #4 Penn State
Next week: at #18 Iowa
This is Minnesota’s first time ever being featured in one of my top 10’s ever. I love to see new teams prove themselves and show why they should be in the top 10 and Minnesota did just that. This win over Penn State was a shock to me honestly I didn’t think Minnesota was as good as advertised but I was proved wrong. If the Gophers can keep rollin they may just somehow sneak into the playoffs.
#8 Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1)
Last week: 31-26 L at #13 Minnesota
Next week: vs Indiana
It was a tough weekend for Penn State after riding high from being ranked #4 then taking a loss to Minnesota. This loss does not entirely remove them from the playoff conversation because they still get to play the Buckeyes in a few weeks and a win in that game could really get this team back to where they want to be.
#9 Oklahoma Sooners (8-1)
Last week: 42-41 W vs Iowa State
Next week: at #12 Baylor
Oklahoma just squeaks by on a missed 2 point conversion last night. I think next weekend vs Baylor the Sooners are going to take their second loss of the season and finally be removed from playoff talk.
#10 Baylor Bears (9-0)
Last week: 29-23 W (3OT) at TCU
Next week: vs #9 Oklahoma
Here is another new team that is making their first appearance in my top 10 ever. This is also a well deserved spot for Baylor, I think the Bears can and will knock off the Sooners next week and take control of the Big 12.
