Make sure to read My Updated CFB Top 10 Week 7 before reading this. Coming into this week it didn’t look like there was going to be much action other than the Michigan Penn State game but that was far from the case. This week brought a huge upset which leads to much shakeup inside the top 10 so let’s see how my Top 10 looks after week 8.
#1 LSU Tigers (7-0)
Last week: 36-13 W vs Mississippi State
Next week: vs #11 Auburn
The Tigers move up to #1 this week after a solid offensive performance. After this game I’m really unsure of any team who has a better combination of offensive and defensive fire power at this point of the year.
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0)
Last week: 52-3 W at Northwestern
Next week: vs #6 Wisconsin
The Buckeyes are obviously a great team but have still yet to play any great competition and despite the terrible loss by Wisconsin this weekend they’ll finally get to play a top 10 caliber team next week.
#3 Alabama Crimson Tide (7-0)
Last week: 35-13 W vs Tennessee
Next week: vs Arkansas
With a loss of a Heisman candidate and arguably the best QB in the nation. So it’s no question that Alabama is going to take a dip in production until he comes back, the Crimson Tide are lucky they don’t have much competition while Tua is out.
#4 Clemson Tigers (7-0)
Last week: 45-10 W at Louisville
Next week: vs Boston College
Another week where the Clemson Tigers play no competition at all and yet Trevor Lawrence still underperforms. The first half of this game was much closer than it should have been and once this team plays any team with some talent there going to get their doors blown off.
#5 Penn State Nittany Lions (7-0)
Last week: 28-21 W vs #16 Michigan
Next week: at Michigan State
Penn State makes a huge jump from #9 last week to #5 this week. A huge win over Michigan puts Penn State right in the passenger seat of the B1G TEN while Ohio State is still in the driver’s seat. When they face off in a couple weeks it’ll decide who heads to Indy for the B1G TEN Championship as long as both teams keep winning.
#6 Oklahoma Sooners (7-0)
Last week: 52-14 W vs West Virginia
Next week: at Kansas State
Another big win for the Sooners and as long as they can keep these wins coming they will unfortunately most likely cruise right into the playoffs again just to get blown out for the second year in a row.
#7 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1)
Last week: 21-0 W vs Kentucky
Next week: Bye
The Bulldogs bounce back this week with a shutout win over Kentucky and look to get back in any serious playoff talk in 2 weeks when they take on Florida in Jacksonville.
#8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-1)
Last week: Bye
Next week: at #16 Michigan
The Irish were on a bye this week and look to make a playoff case next week in Ann Arbor.
#9 Florida Gators (7-0)
Last week: 38-27 W at South Carolina
Next week: Bye
I was debating as to who should get this spot whether it be Auburn or Florida and even though I think Auburn is better than Florida they still did beat them fair and square and theres no excusing that so the #9 spot goes to Florida this week.
#10 Oregon Ducks (6-1)
Last week: 35-31 W at #25 Washington
Next week: vs Washington State
The Ducks of Oregon are finally back on this list and have a real case to make the playoffs. They may be at the bottom of this list as of now but in later weeks when the top teams in the SEC and the B1G TEN start beating up on each other it’s going to open up a spot for the Ducks.
