2019-20 College Football Preview and Predictions

After a not so interesting season last year a new season of college football is only 11 days away. Many teams who ended last year on a high note look to carry that into this season and teams who disappointed last year look to bounce back this season. This point of the year is where everyone starts to make some bold predictions about how the year will turn out so i’ll do the same.

 Teams who will Impress:

The one team I am very confident in shocking the college football world is Oregon. QB Justin Herbert was thought to be the #1 QB in last years NFL draft if he was to go to the draft but instead he decided to stay in Oregon and play out his final season. Herbert has tons of talent and a lot of star power around him at once was a top tier program not long ago so I think Oregon will make some noise this year by winning the PAC12 and making a run for the playoffs.

2 years ago the Gators had a lot of hype around them and underperformed and then the next year they had no hype and did very well with new coach Dan Mullens so this year they are looked at as a very good team but with not much potential. To even be considered ito make the playoffs you need to win your conference or have a very tough schedule and with so many great teams in the SEC it looks almost impossible for the Gators to win the SEC let alone the SEC West with Georgia being their main obstacle. I’m not saying Florida will definitely beat the SEC teams of Alabama, Georgia or LSU but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

It’s such a shame that Mizzou has a bowl ban this year because with star QB Kelly Bryant, transfer from Clemson, this team looks like they could upset a few teams in the SEC. This year they will just have to be the bad guy and ruin other teams season as they will really not get any good out of it since they have NCAA bans but I think this could be a solid 8 win team this year.

I don’t think UNC will make any serious noise this year especially being in the same conference as Clemson but I do have them winning their division but they have no shot at beating a team like Clemson. I just believe with new head coach Mack Brown the Tar Heels will be a lot better than in the past.

Teams who will Disappoint:

I think OU is one of if not the most over hyped teams in college football. I know they have had much success in the past but I just don’t think transfer QB Jalen Hurts has it in him to make Oklahoma a top 5 team this year. They will probably be somewhere between top 10-15 but I don’t think they make the playoffs again or even win the Big 12.

1200px-Utah_Utes_logo.svg.pngUtah Utes

I really have no idea where any hype from Utah is coming from they finished last year 9-5 which is pretty solid but i’ve heard people saying they could win the PAC12 or even make the playoffs, I don’t think there is any chance of either of those things happening and I think Utah underperformed extremely this year.

After coming off a season where they made the playoffs Irish fans are expecting a similar season and I’m here to say it’s not gonna happen. Notre Dame has entirely too hard of a schedule and not a very talented team to even make a case for the playoffs. The Irish got very lucky last year as they made the playoffs on what looked to be a tough schedule but really wasn’t due to injuries and underperforming teams but this year the Irish take on Michigan, Georgia, USC and Stanford, that looks like at least 3 losses to me.
