Kyler Murray Wins the Heisman

After a long and hard fought season the Heisman race has finally come to an end. The winner of the Heisman was announced last night at the Heisman Ceremony in Times Square, New York. The 3 finalists were Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa and Dwayne Haskins. This whole week everybody knew it was pretty much between Tua and Kyler even though Haskins stats are a bit better but he doesn’t have the rushing stats. This was one of the only times in recent memory that no one really knew who was going to win it. All 3 of these players had the numbers but ultimately the voters thought Kyler had the edge. Throughout the whole season it really looked like Tua had this award locked up but after a poor performance vs Georgia the Heisman slowly slipped out of is hands. In any other season all 3 of these finalists would have easily ran away with the Heisman. Kyler finished with 2,167 votes while Tua finished with 1,871 votes. The final Heisman votes are as follows:

1 – Kyler Murray

2 – Tua Tagovailoa

3 – Dwayne Haskins

4 – Will Grier

5 – Gardner Minshew

6 – Mckenzie Milton

7 – Travis Etienne

8 – Quinnen Williams

9 – Jonathan Taylor

10 – Darrell Henderson

Looking back at Heisman Preview and Predictions I was clearly wrong about things but I was right about some. My 3 finalists were JK Dobbins, Jonathan Taylor and the winner as Jake Fromm. I thought Fromm would put up much better numbers than he did and I was not expecting 3 different players to each have record breaking seasons. One thing I was right about is Bryce Love being extremely overrated. He was the pre-season favorite to win the Award and finished the year with 721 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns….yeah not exactly what you see from a pre-season Heisman favorite. Well this Heisman race has been a fun ride but it has ultimately came to an end so until next year but now it’s time to focus on the playoffs.
