My Updated Top 10: Conference Championship Week

Make sure to read  My Updated Top 10: Week 13 before reading this. This will be the last updated top 10 of the year as the official playoff rankings will be released 12:00 today. Coming into this weekend there were a few games with huge playoff implications but it looks as there is an obvious choice for the 4th spot after the outcomes of the games on saturday. Let’s see who I think is in the playoffs and who rounds out the top 10 after conference championship week.

11599197l  #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (13-0)

Last week: 35-28 W vs #4 Georgia

The Tide looked to be down and out to Georgia when they were down 2 scores but Bama being Bama comes back and wins the game with their backup QB nonetheless. Bama will most likely get the #1 spot and probably take on the Sooners in the Cotton Bowl.

clemson_tigers_1977-pres_s  #2 Clemson Tigers (13-0)

Last week: 42-10 W vs Pitt

The Tigers have secured the #2 spot in the playoffs capping off an undefeated season. I hate to say it but I think we’re going to see another Clemson Bama championship game in a month.

1138px-Notre_Dame_Fighting_Irish_logo.svg  #3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-0)

Last week: No game

The Irish did not play this weekend as they do not have a conference championship game because they are an independent team.

Unknown (1)  #4 Oklahoma Sooners (12-1)

Last week: 39-27 W vs #14 Texas

After a fourth straight Big 12 Championship the Sooners are most likely headed to the playoffs. It’s really up to the committee but I believe the Sooners get in over Ohio State and Georgia.

Unknown #5 Georgia Bulldogs (11-2)

Last week: 35-28 L vs #1 Alabama

What a fight this team put up on Saturday but unfortunately they won’t make the playoffs. Clearly this team is a top 4 team in the nation but that’s just not how the playoff works.

2000px-Ohio_State_Buckeyes_logo.svg  #6 Ohio State Buckeyes (12-1)

Last week: 45-24 W vs #21 Northwestern

Ohio State is crowned the B1G TEN Champion and they still will not get into the playoffs. This team deserves nothing they should have lost to Maryland and Michigan should have been playing in this game. The Buckeyes will now head to the Rose Bowl.

1280px-Michigan_Wolverines_logo.svg  #7 Michigan Wolverines (10-2)

Last week: No game

The Wolverines did not play this weekend as they did not make the B1G TEN Championship.

2000px-UCF_Knights_logo.svg #8 UCF Knights (13-0)

Last week: 56-41 W vs Memphis

What a season for the Knights. I wish these kids got a shot at the playoffs because obviously this team is much more than just Mckenzie Milton but they unfortunately won’t have a shot at the playoffs and will only get to a New Years 6 bowl.

florida-gators-logo-png-transparent #9 Florida Gators (9-3)

Last week: No game

The Gators did not play this weekend as they did not make the SEC Championship.

1280px-Washington_Huskies_logo.svg #10 Washington Huskies (10-3)

Last week: 10-3 W vs #17 Utah

The Huskies have moved back into the top 10 as the finished the year 10-3 and are the PAC-12 Champion. Not a great season but not a bad season either. Like I said before the season started the Washington Huskies will not finish as high as everyone thinks they will and that’s exactly what happened.
