The 2018 college football season is slowly coming to an end and with that it means award semi-finalists and finalists are being named. The finalists for some top awards have been named a couple weeks ago so i will be giving my prediction on who I believe wins the award. As there are tons of awards for the college football season I will only be predicting the top awards excluding the Heisman. Let’s see who the finalists are and who’s going to win the award.
Chuck Bednarik Award (Defensive Player of the Year) Finalists
Josh Allen, Kentucky
Christian Wilkins, Clemson
Quinnen Williams, Alabama
As a Michigan fan i thought Devin Bush should have been a finalist over Williams but whatever. I think Wilkins will win this award with his great season this year.
Biletnikoff Award (Outstanding WR)
Andy Isabella, UMASS
Jerry Jeudy, Alabama
Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State
I’m very very shocked to see that David Sills or Hollywood Brown were not named finalists for this award. Honestly I think Sills is the most outstanding WR this year but clearly no one else does. With these 3 finalists I would have to go with Jerry Jeudy as he has been nothing but impressive this year but I still think the finalists should have been Juedy, Sills and Brown.
Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (Nation’s best DB)
Deandre Baker, Georgia
Julian Love, Notre Dame
Greedy Williams, LSU
All 3 of these DB’s are very very good and are clearly the nations top 3 DB’s as they are the 3 finalists. With that being said I think the better out of the 3 is Greedy Williams so I think he has the best shot at the award.
Doak Walker Award (Nation’s Best RB)
Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin
Travis Etienne, Clemson
Darrell Henderson, Memphis
At the start of the season Taylor was a top favorite for the Heisman but he slowly digressed throughout the season. As he is a very great RB his performance did not digress that much because clearly he is still very good to be in the running for the Doak Walker. Etienne has been great this year but he doesn’t get enough touches to put up those big numbers. In my opinion I think Etienne is more talented than Taylor so i’m going to say Etienne wins this award.
Davey O’Brien Award (Nation’s Best QB)
Gardner Minshew, Washington State
Kyler Murray, Oklahoma
Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama
All 3 of these players are also in the running for the Heisman as well but in my opinion Minshew should not be in the running for the Heisman or the O’Brien. He is not even close to the “Nation’s Best QB” appose to Murray and Tua. Whoever thought he’s better than even Will Grier or even a QB like Mckenzie Milton is insane. With that being said I think this award is between Tua and Murray and I think Tua is better than Murray so I say this award goes to Tua.
Maxwell Award (College Player of the Year)
Will Grier, West Virginia
Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama
Kyler Murray, Oklahoma
Similar finalists to the O’Brien minus Gardner Mr. Overrated Minshew but I think Murray brings home this award. Murray can also run the ball much better than Grier and Tua so I think that’s a huge plus for Murray and that gives him this award.
