Make sure to read My Updated Top 10: Week 11 before reading this. Week 12 did not look like it was going to be a great week of college football but surprisingly it turned out to be better than expected. So with not much shakeup in the top 10 there shouldn’t be many major changes in these rankings but there will be a few. Let’s see how my top 10 looks after week 12.
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-0)
Last week: 50-17 W vs The Citadel
Alabama is just where they were last week with a huge win this weekend. The only bad thing I can say about this team is that their “No score November” is over. Having shutout LSU and Mississippi State this month there only points let up have come from The Citadel.
#2 Clemson Tigers (11-0)
Last week: 35-6 W vs Duke
Nothing much to say about this game, just a dominant team against a not so good team. Clemson pretty much has their playoff spot on lock if they can take care of business the rest of the way
#3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-0)
Last week: 36-3 W vs #13 Syracuse
This week was pretty much Notre Dame’s final test, with USC having an off year this win pretty much solidifies the Irish’s spot into the playoffs as long as they can win next week vs a weak USC team.
#4 Michigan Wolverines (10-1)
Last week: 31-20 W vs Indiana
This game was closer than expected but the Wolverines still pulled out with a win. If Michigan can take care of business next weekend vs Ohio State I would definitely expect to see the Wolverines in the playoffs.
#5 Georgia Bulldogs (10-1)
Last week: 66-27 W vs Umass
This Georgia team is very good and it sucks were most likely not going to see them in the playoffs. If the Bulldogs can somehow pull off an upset in the SEC Championship vs #1 Alabama we will not see this team in the playoffs.
#6 LSU Tigers (9-2)
Last week: 42-10 W vs Rice
The playoff hopes for LSU have been over for weeks now with no shot at a conference title and already 2 losses. LSU will get into a new years 6 bowl and that’s it. Hopefully next year Coach O and the Tigers will make a run for the playoffs.
#7 Oklahoma Sooners (10-1)
Last week: 55-40 W vs Kansas
After this defensive performance I think the Sooners playoff hopes are over. Even if there is tons of shakeup in the top 4 I think the Committee would put Georgia or even LSU into the playoffs over a team who lets Kansas score 40 points.
#8 Washington State Cougars (10-1)
Last week: 69-28 W vs Arizona
This Cougar team actually looks quite impressive. Granted Arizona is not a great team 69 points on any team is still very impressive. The Cougars will need some shakeup in the top 4 to possibly sneak into the playoffs.
#9 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1)
Last week: 52-51 W vs Maryland
The Buckeyes have moved down 1 spot after a nail biter win vs Maryland. The Buckeyes survive another week and will take on #4 Michigan next weekend for the B1G TEN East championship.
#10 UCF Knights (10-0)
Last week: 38-13 W vs #24 Cincinnati
UCF has finally made its way back into the top 10 thanks to a loss from West Virginia. I really feel bad for these players because they could put up a fight against some top teams and make it closer than some think it would be with their explosive offense. Unfortunately the Knights will most likely not find their way into the playoffs anytime soon.
Teams who have dropped out of my top 10
The Cowboys of Oklahoma State seem to be this years spoiler for teams playoff hopes. First they knock off Texas now West Virginia. With this loss the playoff hopes of Will Grier and West Virginia are unfortunately over.
