Ummmm, of course they did.
Everyone expected it but now it’s official. The Kansas Jayhawks will be the number 1 team in the nation headed into the 2018-2019 season. And then will probably be the 5th ranked team in the nation when we lose to Michigan State on opening night (I’m kiddinngggggg) (not really, we SUCK on opening night. Cc: Indiana)
But in reality, is this a surprise to any? Kansas, as of right now, definitely has the best roster and deepest roster in the country. When you have TWO McDonalds All Americans coming off your bench, possibly Lagerald Vick coming off the bench and having Dedric Lawson and Udoka Azibuke controlling the paint, it’s tough to argue why Kansas shouldn’t be #1.
Yes, Kansas fans it is exciting. Of course you should be excited that our team in #1. That means, like EVERY other year, Kansas should be in contention to win the Big 12 (would be 15 years now), get to another final four and then win a title.
But don’t get caught up with the preseason rankings. They don’t mean anything. It’s November when we start the season. By March, UMBC can beat another 1 seed. Anything can happen in this crazy sport, but for now, Rock Chalk!
