Make sure to read My Updated Top 10: Week 4 before reading this. This weekend was a great weekend of games with 2 top 10 matchups in #4 Ohio State at #9 Penn State and #7 Stanford at #8 Notre Dame. 2 top 10 matchups like this can have a ton of impact on how the rankings look after a weekend of games so let’s get into how my top 10 looks.
#1 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0)
Last week: 27-26 W vs #9 Penn State
This may come as a surprise but for Ohio State to beat this Penn State team in Happy valley during a white out is just very impressive. Not to add Ohio State won without arguably their best player in Nick Bosa.
#2 Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0)
Last week: 56-14 W vs Louisiana
Alabama has moved down 1 spot from last week. In my opinion beating a team like Louisiana isn’t going to give you the #1 spot when other teams are playing teams like Penn State. Alabama is obviously a great team but you can’t play these cupcake teams and expect to be ranked higher than teams who play real competition.
#3 Georgia Bulldogs (5-0)
Last week: 38-12 W vs Tennessee
This Bulldogs team is impressive and like i’ve been saying they look very similar to last years Georgia team so don’t expect Georgia to fall out of the top 5 this year.
#4 LSU Tigers (5-0)
Last week: 45-16 W vs Ole Miss
The Tigers have moved up 1 spot from last week after a big win in the SEC. The Tigers still being the only team to have 2 top 10 wins earns them the #4 spot this week.
#5 Clemson Tigers (5-0)
Last week: 27-23 W vs Syracuse
The Clemson Tigers has moved down one spot from last week after a nail biter in Clemson. This game should not have been this close at all after star QB Trevor Lawrence went down the game was in the hands of 3rd string QB Chase Brice. With no more Kelly Bryant the Tigers should get Brice ready in case Lawrence goes down again.
#6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-0)
Last week: 38-17 W vs #7 Stanford
The Irish have moved all the way back into my top 10 after being left out last week. The Irish look to be even better than we thought now with a new QB in Ian Book. The Irish have a win vs #14 Michigan and #7 Stanford clearly making them worthy of the #6 spot thus far.
#7 Oklahoma Sooners (5-0)
Last week: 66-33 W vs Baylor
The Sooners bounced back this week after a close win vs Army 2 weeks ago and put a beating on Baylor this week. Kyler Murray looks to be one of the best players in the nation and looks like he could carry them into the playoffs.
#8 West Virginia Mountaineers (4-0)
Last week: 42-34 W vs #25 Texas Tech
The Mountaineers moved up 1 spot from last week and just like Oklahoma, West Virginia has a very impressive QB in Will Grier who can possibly bring the Mountaineers to the playoffs if they keep their offense rolling like this.
#9 Penn State Nittany Lions (4-1)
Last week: 27-26 L vs #4 Ohio State
Penn State has moved from #6 to #9 this week due to a heartbreaking loss. This loss is gonna make the path to the playoffs very hard for the Nittany Lions but it is still possible for them to make the playoffs.
#10 Auburn Tigers (4-1)
Last week: 24-13 W vs Southern Miss
The Tigers are still in the #10 spot exact where they were last week. Auburn does have a top 10 win under their belt but they also have a loss so the #10 spot is a perfect spot for them.
Teams who have dropped out of my top 10
Stanford is the only team who dropped out of the top 10 this week after a tough loss to Notre Dame. Like I said last week I believe the Cardinals are extremely overrated and are not worthy of a top 10 spot.
