Make sure to read My Updated Top 10: Week 2Before you read this. 3 weeks of football is in the books and some teams playoff hopes have already been destroyed. Another story line of week 3 was the hurricane on the lower east coast that canceled some games so after everything that week 3 gave us here is how I think the top 10 should look.
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0)
Last week: 62-7 W vs Ole Miss
As many people would have expected Alabama is still at #1 after a dominating win at Ole Miss. Bama takes on Texas A&M next week.
#2 Ohio State Buckeyes (3-0)
Last week: 40-28 W vs #15 TCU
The Buckeyes proved themselves to be a legit team for those who already didn’t think they were. The Buckeyes beat the Horned Frogs by an impressive score of 40-28 giving them the #2 spot on my top 10.
#3 Georgia Bulldogs (3-0)
Last week: 49-7 W vs Middle Tennessee
Another big performance from the Bulldogs only letting up 7 points while also scoring almost 50. This Georgia team looks to be just as good as last year’s team who finished #2 in the nation at the end of last year.
#4 Clemson Tigers (3-0)
Last week: 38-7 W vs Georgia Southern
The Tigers get an easy game to bounce back from the nailbiter in College Station last week. Clemson routs Georgia Southern in an easy win this week to give them the #4 spot on my top 10.
#5 LSU Tigers (3-0)
Last week 22-21 W vs #7 Auburn
This LSU team looks to be serious contenders for the SEC like I said before the season even started. LSU has 2 top 10 wins in 3 weeks already this season which is 2 more than almost every team in the top 10. To beat Auburn is already a huge task in itself but to beat Auburn at Jordan Hare is close to impossible but LSU did just that so in my opinion they are the #5 team in the nation.
#6 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0)
Last week: 37-27 W vs Iowa State
First year starting QB Kyler Murray had his first road test as a starter at Iowa State this week and he proved to be a top QB in the nation. The Sooners only won by 10 points so it looks as the Big 12 may be more open than you thought but Oklahoma is still a great team.
#7 Penn State Nittany Lions (3-0)
Last week: 63-10 W vs Kent State
This may be a surprise to some after Penn State was almost upset week 1 vs Appalachian State but after a big win vs Pitt and this weeks big win vs Kent State they look to be better than people thought so in my opinion they deserve to be #7.
#8 Washington Huskies (2-1)
Last week: 21-7 W vs Utah
I’m not personally a big fan of the Huskies but after 2 wins and 1 loss to Auburn they do look to be worthy of the top 10. The Huskies beat Utah in Utah by a score of 21-7 which is very impress since Utah is considered as one of the harder places to play so Washington belongs at the #8 spot.
#9 West Virginia Mountaineers (2-0)
Last week : DNP
Although West Virginia did not play this week due to the life threatening hurricane I still think they are talented enough to be ranked #9 with Will Grier and their explosive offense.
#10 Virginia Tech Hokies (2-0)
Last week: DNP
The Hokies also did not get to play this week because of the hurricane but their performance in the first 2 weeks puts them in the top 10 for me. The Hokies have a great defense and are definitely capable of winning the ACC Coastal conference.
Teams who have dropped out of my top 10
A big loss for the Badgers moving them out of the top 10 in my opinion. Wisconsin lost 24-21 to BYU on Saturday afternoon.
A loss for Auburn at home is pretty embarrassing for them. LSU beat Auburn by a last second field goal in Jordan Hare stadium. A loss at home puts Auburn out of the top 10.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame didn’t lose on Saturday but the game was too close for comfort in my opinion. The Irish beat Vanderbilt 22-17 and may have possibly lost if they didnt get lucky.
