Kansas continues to load up on insane talent for the upcoming season. The five-star, 16th rated recruit in the country, Quentin Grimes, has officially committed to the University of Kansas.

This current Kansas team has a chance to be really good, but the upcoming season has a chance to be an all-time great team for Kansas (on paper at least).

Grimes is versatile, he’s tall for his position, he has good ball handling skills, he can shoot and shoot the three, he’s lengthy which helps make his a good rebounder and defender, and he can drive to the basket. Grimes is a do-it-all player, and a player that can absolutely thrive in a Kansas uniform.

Now, the team next year is insanely deep that I don’t even know what Bill Self is going to do.

Here are my projections for Kansas roster next year:

PG: Devon Dotson

G: Malik Newman

G: Quentin Grimes

PF: Dedric Lawson

C: Udoka Azibuke

PG: Charlie Moore

G: Marcus Garrett

G/F: Sam Cunliffe

F: KJ Lawson

F: Ochai Agbaji (3 star recruit that just committed, possible red-shirt?)

F: Silvio de Sousa

F: Mitch Lightfoot

C: David McCormack

Now, Kansas obviously loses Devonte Graham and Svi due to them graduating.

I’m assuming that Lagerald Vick declares for the draft after everything going on with him this season. He might want to just leave Lawrence and get his chance at the NBA.

I’m also assuming that Malik Newman is gonna take the Devonte Graham approach and come back for his junior season, knowing that it is now his team to be the captain.

Can you imagine the starting back court of Dotson and Newman and then a front court that includes Grimes, Lawson and Azibuke. Oh my God!

You can see the depth of this team and how good they can be.

Rock Chalk Jayhawks!

  1. How about an update now, since KU is in the Final4 and with Newmans stock soaring (even though I don’t believe he’s still on draft boards), you gotta think he’s gone. But even with Vick’s doghouse issues, I thought he’d be back, unless he goes the Europe route. And with Dok, still feel he needs one more year to get into the first round and get paid. Given that, it’s still insane and you’d think Vick takes Newman’s starting spot. Thoughts?

    1. For sure. I was gonna update it after the season but my thinking is this.

      1. Vick is most likely gonna be gone and do what Wayne Selden did and take a chance on himself.

      2. Newman will declare but not hire an agent. He’ll test the waters but if he’s not given a guarantee that he’ll be picked in the first round, I think he’ll be back to dominate on a team that is now his and increase his draft odds.

      3. Doke will definitely be back. He needs another year.

  2. I think Newman will leave, especially if the Hawks get a commitment from Romeo Langford. But even if Langford commits elsewhere, Newman will still probably depart. He’s had strong pro ambitions for years. Langford may be waiting to see what Newman does before he decides at the end of April.

Vick— I don’t know. Really not ready for the pro’s, but he may feel he’ll get lost in the shuffle with all these newcomers. Hard to say.
