Okay…. what is going on in the sports world today. First, the Cavaliers blow up the entire roster and get younger and better and THEN, when everyone knows today is dedicated to the NBA, Jimmy Garoppolo signs an extension with the 49ers.
The extension will make Jimmy G the highest paid player in NFL history. The details of the contract are a 5 year/$137.5 Million deal.
Jimmy Garoppolo is the HIGHEST paid player in the NFL. He has started seven games. Seven! And he has thrown 12 touchdowns.
Listen, I get it, you want to lock up your Quarterback for the future and Jimmy G won games with the 49ers last year. I know he’s experienced two Super Bowls and got the chance to learn under Tom Brady, the best QB of all time, but is this what we’re doing now? Giving a guy who started 7 games $137.5 million?
In what world does Jimmy Garoppolo deserve to be the highest paid player in the NFL?! I don’t know, I don’t get it. He has proven nothing in the NFL yet, and I like Jimmy G, I think he’s a good player, but for $137.5 million? Come on now!
