Talk about a big blow for the Tar Heels.
On the eve of the second game of the season and what looks like may be the return of Joel Berry tonight after suffering a broken hand playing NBA 2K (Thanks 2K for providing frustration and torture to all those who play), junior transfer Cam Johnson is set to miss time after the school announced he would have surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
Johnson missed the first game of the year with a sprained neck and was already ruled out with the neck injury prior to this news.
The 6’8 small forward was expected to fill a key role for the Tar Heels following the departure of Justin Jackson to the NBA. This is bad news for Carolina basketball.
The time table for Johnson’s return is unknown but there is a chance Johnson does return for action this season.
In 33 games for Pittsburgh (Jamie Dixon and TCU say hi!), Johnson averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in just over 33 minutes a game.
