The Yankees beat the Indians in the ALDS 3-2. Yes those Indians that won 22 straight games blew a 2-0 lead to the Baby Bombers. Here is some takeaways from the Series.
The Starting Pitching is Dominate.
Barring sonny gray who is the only of the 4 starting pitchers to pitch bad in the series they looked great. Tanaka has looked great in his last 2 starts and mowed through one of the best lineups in the Indians and only giving up 3 hits with 0 runs. C.C is the backbone and showed in game 5 he can come in and be himself even in the biggest light. Luis Severino bounced back after his nightmare Wild Card start with 7 dominate innings and looked like his old self and looks like the Cy Young Candidate he was during the regular season.
Best Bullpen left in the Playoffs
David Robertson was absolutely phenomenal in this series except for his only hit given up, that just so happened to be a game tying HR to Jay Bruce in Game 2, but besides that he has answered every call and has been used as a long reliever rather than a 1 inning guy he was used to. Chapman also pitched out of his comfort zone as he went 5 and 2/3rd innings and had 2 saves and he didn’t even give up a run, sure glad to see his dead arm is gone. Bettances has seem to have fallen out of grace with joe Girardi as in the game 2 lose things seemed to click then maybe tiring caused him to give up the run but then game 4 he came faced 2 guys walked both and wiped all his success from earlier in the series away as tommy Kahnle came in and got the 6 out save meant for Bettances, Kahnle has also been light outs this series too.
What Happened to Judge.
He went 2-4 with a walk and a Home Run in the Wild Card game and looked like he was ready for the biggest stage in Baseball, then he went 1-20 with 16 Strikeouts, though his only hit was a big one in game 3 he went up most at-bats and fans just knew a strikeout was Coming. If the Yankees want to go even farther they are gonna need their AL MVP hopeful back.
Stop Bashing Joe Girardi the guy made one mistake on not challenging a call. The guy managed the hell out of the bullpen all series and took a team that was riddled with injuries most of the year to the ALCS.
