Giants 53 man roster prediction
Eli Manning, Davis Webb, Geno Smith
While the first 2 were obvious locks Geno Smith seemed to outplay Josh Johnson to take the last spot. Geno having at least some sort of success as a starter also factors in for just in case Eli ever goes down.
Paul Perkins, Shane Vereen, Orleans Darkwa, Wayne Gallman, Shane Smith
The first 4 names on this list are pretty chalk but the biggest surprise would have to be UDFA Shane Smith who is a fullback and has actually helped the run game so far this preseason. Draughn gets the short end of the stick as I can’t see the Giants cutting Gallman no matter how bad he was.
Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard, Roger Lewis Jr., Travis Rudolph, Dwayne Harris
I would like nothing more than for the Giants to cut Dwayne Harris but with the Tavares King injury that doesn’t seem possible, however Harris drops even further on the depth chart as UDFA Travis Rudolph looked fantastic and might have the #4 WR position on lock.
Evan Engram, Rhett Ellison, Jerell Adams, Matt Lacosse
Rhett Ellison contract will go down as the worst of the offseason, Evan Engram is a great pass catcher and is showing he is a capable blocker and Shane smith is showing to be a good FB rendering Ellison useless. Lacosse makes the team after a great game last night with 2 TD’s and Will Tye lost a fumble.
OL (8) Ereck Flowers, Justin Pugh, Weston Richburg, John Jerry, Bobby Hart, Dj Fluker, Adam Bisnowaty, Brett Jones.
These were the 8 offensive line most likely to make it from the start of camp while no one proved good enough to take a spot while some players showed they didn’t deserve a spot who got one. It would not surprise me if Dj Fluker, Brett Jones, or Adam Bisnowaty took over for John Jerry at RG as Brett Jones payed a good amount with the starters in the game against the Jets.
DE Jason Pierre-Paul, DE Oliver Vernon, DT Damon Harrison, DT Jay Bromley, DE Romeo Okwara, DE Avery Moss, DT Dalvin Tomlinson, DE Kerry Wynn, DE Jordan Williams, DT Robert Thomas
Avery Moss looks like he could be a very good situational rusher with Romeo Okwara, while Wynn, Williams and Thomas will be solid depth at the bottom who have a chance to make big plays while on the field. Overall one of the best DLine groups in the league.
Devon Kennard, BJ Goodson, Jonathan Casillas, JT Thomas, Calvin Munson
With Keenan Robinson down with a concussion and looking like he’s headed to the PUP UDFA Calvin Munson should make the team. While his stay on the team could be short as the giants might sign a LB who was cut from another team to take his spot he would certainly be the first guy added to the Practice Squad.
Janoris Jenkins, Eli Apple, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Donte Deayon, Michael Hunter Jr.
The top 3 were never even close to being cut while the bottom 2 in Deayon and Hunter worked their tails off to make the team. A 6th guy could be added for depth with the apple injury and that would mean Lacosse would not make the team.
Landon Collins, Darian Thompson, Andrew Adams, Nat Berhe
Landon Collins is one of the best safeties in the league and either of the other 3 would be a good compliment to him but look for Darian Thompson to get the first shot.
Special Teams (3)
K Aldrick Rosas, P Brad Wing, LS Zak DeOssie
Wing and DeOssie were always locks to make the team nut in a surprising move Rosas outplayed vet Mike Nuggent and sealed his spot on the team with a game winning field goal against the Pats as time expired.
