As the conditions will continue to dry out early in the day look for a round under par to be a good score again. Early on expect some good play from contenders like Kevin Kisner, John Rahm and Rickie Fowler. Some other players like D.A. Points and Brian Harman are also likely to emerge to the top of the leaderboard. Expect Rory McIlroy to stay around Even Par for the day, however a big run from Rory probably will have to wait for the weekend.
After the conclusion of the morning wave I expect the Leaderboard to look something like this:
1.Kisner -5
T2 Olesen, Fowler, Points -4
T5 Koepka, Rahm, Harman, Stroud, Woodland, Murray -3
The afternoon forecast includes some potential rain, but not guaranteed rain, the wind is expected to pick up making conditions tougher. Look for more players to have rounds over par. I expect players like Brooks Koepka, Paul Casey and Hideki Matsuyama to continue to play well, while others falter. Players like Patrick Reed, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day will likely shoot rounds over par. As for the player chasing the Grand Slam, I expect Spieth to have another up and down day, but a round of 1-under par 70 will end up being the result.
After two rounds here’s my projected leaderboard
T1 Brooks Koepka and Kevin Kisner -5
T3 Rickie Fowler, D.A. Points, and Hidkei Matsuyama -4
T6 John Rahm, Brian Harman, Gary Woodland, and Paul Casey -3
T10 Thorbjorn Olesen, Tommy Fleetwood, Pat Perez and Matt Kuchar -2
Notables not in Top-10: Jordan Spieth E, Rory McIlroy E, Dustin Johnson +1, Jason Day +3, Phil Mickelson +11
