Previewing Kansas basketballs trip to Italy

The Kansas basketball team is headed to Italy for their summer trip! This year they are headed to Rome and Milan to battle teams from Italy. Some people are against these foreign trips, but in my opinion, I think they're great for any college basketball teams. It allows the players to see a side of the world they never thought they'd see, it allows time to bond together as teammates and it allows the team to play meaningful basketball games before the season actually tips off.

Kansas basketball is allowed to play everyone on their roster. Now, it's gonna be likely that the players from this upcoming season are going to get most of the minutes but don't be surprised to see the Lawson brothers and Charlie Moore get their minutes. It'll be a good taste to see the 2018 squad too.

So, Dedric Lawson has been suspended for the Italy trip after an altercation in practice. There is no report about what the altercation is but it's not ideal. Self has made it clear that Lawson is still on the team and at the school, he just won't be making the trip to Italy. Lawson has to redshirt and sit this year out anyway after transferring from Memphis but this is a clear case of Bill Self laying down the law and setting an example on how to act while playing for the University of Kansas. Hopefully Dedric will learn his lesson and move forward with this because he is a valuable player for the Jayhawks in 2018.

Who to watch? Marcus Garrett, the young freshman Point Guard. Garrett might not get a ton of time during the season but he is going to be needed for sure. If Garrett can grow on this trip, get comfortable and learn the offense, he is dynamic and big enough to get on the court this season and the more depth the better for the Jayhawks. This can be a big trip for Garrett and he hasn't even stepped foot in a college game yet. He is going to be a stud down the road, but this trip can determine if he can be a stud for his freshman season instead of just being the 5th backcourt guy.
