The Course:

TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm
Par 70 7,107 yards

TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm used to be a regular stopping ground for the PGA Tour, however with issues around the course the Tour went away from TPC Potomac after complaints about the turf and drainage of the course in 2006. After it was announced that the tour was leaving the course went to work and finished a 2-year $20 million renovation. This will be the first PGA Tour event held at TPC Potomac since the renovation, so players and fans will not know entirely what to expect this week. The course features 2 Par-5’s on holes 2 and 10 but also contains a drivable 14th hole that can contain some birdies. Holes 12-14 will likely be swing holes as players look t make some birdies before the tough finish, it contains the short par-3 12th, the 360 yard par 4 13th and the drivable 14th. Holes 15-18 look to contain a tough closing stretch with 15 and 18 both playing over 450 yards and the 17th hole which contains water.

The field:

This years field is headlined by fan favorite Rickie Fowler and Players Champion Si Woo Kim . Other notable players playing include Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, Bill Haas and Jimmy Walker.

Five golfers to watch:
Rickie Fowler: The highest ranked player in the field is coming off a stretch of finishing 2nd at the Memorial and 5th at the US Open, if he can continue this form there’s no reason he can’t win on Sunday.

Si Woo Kim: Making his first start since the US Open where he was 6th heading into the Final round before fading away, look for Kim to get back into contention here this week.

Patrick Reed: Had a good tournament last week finishing Tied for 5th, look for Reed to carry that momentum into this week.
Brendan Steele: 8 Top-20s so far this year and continued that form last week finishing tied for 14th, don’t be surprised when he is in contention this weekend.

Wesley Bryan: Bryan had a good first couple of days at the Travelers before fading in the weekend, look for Bryan to put together a more complete performance this weekend.
