Victor Cruz signs with the Bears; win-win situation

The long wait is over and Victor Cruz has finally found a new home. The former New York Giant wider receiver is signing with the Chicago Bears.

Cruz was cut by the Giants after the season ended due to his contract. If the Giants kept him, they would’ve had to pay north of 9 million dollars for Cruz. The Giants decided it would be best for Victor to test free agency and tonsee if he can find a better fit due to the Giants already having Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepard.

Throw away the stats and the record books. Yes, Victor Cruz was once a superstar talent. One of the best players at his position. Helped carry the Giants to a Super Bowl. An incredible story for an undrafted free agent out of a small football school, University of Massachusetts.

Victor Cruz is no longer that player. After missing almost 2 full years with injuries (torn patellar tendon and a calf injury) he is simply just not the same explosive wide receiver he once was, and that’s fine.

The Chicago Bears are in a rebuilding mode. That’s no secret. They just drafted Mitch Trubisky with the 2nd overall pick, hoping for him to take over as the starting quarterback sooner than later. And what better person to bring into a franchise that has a bunch of young players, a rookie quarterback and a team who hasn’t won in a long time than Victor Cruz? Cruz is an extraordinary leader, he will teach Trubisky on and off the field, he will be a leader in that locker room, he can share stories about winning a Super Bowl, hopefully passing that down to the younger players. The Bears are getting an absolute winner joining their team.

It’s a win-win situation for both sides. Cruz gets another chance to prove he’s still capable and playing at a high level in the NFL and the Bears get a good player, who is a flat out winner and leader to lead this young talent and teach them the rights and wrongs that they can carry with them the rest of the year. For once, the Bears made an awesome decision.

Best of luck Vic, Giants nation will always love you. Thanks for everything you did for us.
What the hell, one final time am I right?
