Legarrette Blount is officially going to Philadelphia.
The free agent running back agreed to a one year deal worth $2.8 million.
NFL.com reporter Ian Rapoport was first to announce the deal.
The 30 year old running back departs New England after running for 1,161 yards and 18 touchdowns a year ago. Blount showed he was capable of being a lead back in his advanced age carrying the ball 299 times last season.
Blount has experienced most of his career success in a Patroits uniform and ran into trouble off the field during his tenure in Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh.
It’ll be interesting to see how well he does in Philadelphia but he provides a significant upgrade on paper to the Eagles roster.
The Eagles have done well on one year prove it deals with star players this off season as they agreed to a deal with free agent Alshon Jeffery at the beginning of free agency.
Blount should assist in easing the pressure off second year quarterback Carson Wentz and will help with the young quarterbacks progression as the Eagles hope he is their franchise star.
